Wimmera Landcare was established following the statewide Landcare launch at Winjallok in 1986.
There are now more than 60 Landcare and other community based natural resource management groups within the Wimmera Catchment region working towards improved Land, Water and Environmental outcomes.

Funding for Landcare groups
Administration and Insurance Assistance
Wimmera CMA has announced a Landcare Group assistance offer of $250 to help with rising insurance and administration costs. The offer is open to all Wimmera Landcare groups. Contact Max Skeen, 53821544, for further information.

Landcare Development Grants
Landcare and Community groups can now access an easy to use "no red tape" funding program to help with Landcare and natural resource management events.
The Wimmera CMA's Landcare Development Fund can provide financial assist of $500 - $2500 for a range of community Landcare activities including field days, group tours, guest speakers, minor projects etc and is open from February 10 2005.

Landcare Group for stawell -
Strong community interest in Landcare issues and the need for town residents to be involved in environmental management has resulted in the recent formation of the Stawell Landcare Group. A meeting of 25 community members moved to create the group after presentations from community and Landcare organisations on Tuesday night.
Weed spread, rubbish dumping, site restoration and community action within the Stawell Town boundary were among the large number of concerns identified and will be the target of future action by the group.
Members meet regularly at the Stawell Entertainment Centre. Local people with an interest in Landcare or the environment are welcome to attend

"Communities and Landcare in action"
A great way to have fun, meet new people and contribute to a healthy and productive environment.
July and August are traditionally the busiest times for Wimmera Landcare Groups and for volunteers involved in the 3 major community Landcare events, Plantout, Yarrilinks and Project Hindmarsh. These events offer an opportunity to get involved and see first hand some of the challenges of Landcare and the fantastic work being done by Landcare groups.
